The Town of Hamlet continues to see the value in youth baseball. The town’s park board last month once again decided to support the Hamlet Baseball League with a $275 field sponsorship, the highest of the league’s three sponsorship levels.
“It’s something keeping them kids off their cell phones and doing something active,” said Board President Dave Kesvormas.
But it also helps draw people into town. Board Member Brian Earnest felt the Hamlet Baseball League organizers did a great job last year. “I think they had over 200 players, which is crazy to think,” he said. “But it’s great for the community and great for the kids.”
The Hamlet Baseball League website says its goal is “to allow every child an opportunity to play baseball regardless of ability, experience, or finances.”
