Hamlet Zoning Board Approves Permit for Another New Home

Another new home is coming to Hamlet. The town’s zoning board Wednesday approved another building permit for developer Eric Keen.

“The proposed construction is at Madison Street, which is the lot where there was a fire and the house was destroyed, vacant lot already zoned for residential,” Board President Dave Kesvormas explained. “Size of building is 32-by-38. Size of lot is 94-by-85. Approximate cost of construction is $100,000-plus.”

The new home would qualify for incentives as part of Hamlet’s “22 by ‘22” program. That includes three months of free water, sewer, and trash and recycling pickup, along with at-cost water and sewer connections, plus the possibility of reduced or suspended permit fees.
