Efforts to bring an art installation to the Winamac Town Park and boost art education in Starke County have gotten some financial help. The Indiana Arts Commission recently approved its latest round of grants.
That includes almost $4,900 for the Pulaski County Tribe. Its Art in the Park project involves aesthetic improvements to the historic artesian well, a new interpretive sign highlighting its history, and a metal lighted silhouette. Meanwhile, the Starke County Youth Club got almost $4,100 to support its after-school art programs and performances.
The Indiana Arts Commission says both of those projects were selected for funding from the Arts Trust, which is funded by the Celebrate the Arts license plates. Altogether, the commission awarded over $3 million to almost 400 nonprofit organizations around the state.
