N.J.-S.P. Jr./Sr. High School to Switch Again to eLearning Thursday and Friday

North Judson-San Pierre students in grades seven to 12 will get two more eLearning days, while the high school’s air conditioning unit is being repaired. Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin says the rebuild of the unit is underway and will be complete in a few days.

In the meantime, though, she says classrooms are becoming uncomfortably hot for students and staff at the junior/senior high school. Now, students in grades seven through 12 will have eLearning days on Thursday, August 19 and Friday, August 20. Students in kindergarten through sixth grade will continue with in-person class on a regular schedule.

During Tuesday’s school board meeting, Junior/Senior High School Principal Brian Orkis said he’s been impressed by the adaptability and flexibility of students and staff. “I don’t think anyone really wants to start a school year in the situation that we did,” he told board members. “It’s not optimal, especially for the new kids, the seventh graders coming in and the influx of kids that were virtual last year that are now coming into the building. That can be a pretty challenging thing to overcome.”

Zupin says more details and next week’s schedule will be announced on Friday, and families can expect a message soon regarding iPads and devices from High School Principal Brian Orkis.
