North Judson may have a slightly different look in the future. NIPSCO plans to upgrade its 239 streetlights in town to LED technology, according to Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe. “They’re replacing all of them,” he told the town council last week. “It’s supposed to mimic moonlight, the 4,000 is, the standard one.”
Council members were presented with a few options for color temperature and brightness, but ultimately agreed to go with the brighter, standard option. North Judson’s LED lighting upgrade is expected to start next year.
But before that, the project to replace all of the town’s street signs is tentatively scheduled to start August 23, according to Town Superintendent Joe Leszek. He reported that ADA upgrades to the downtown sidewalks are currently in final design review with INDOT. The town is also waiting for INDOT’s final notice to proceed on sidewalk improvements near the Town Park.
