The West Central School Board met Wednesday night to complete the teaching roster for the school year, among discussion of other items.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra said the employees who were given notice as a Reduction in Force (RIF) were able to keep a position at the school corporation. He said they were offered full-time jobs through other attrition and circumstances.
Zylstra said the board members also held a brief budget discussion as they face challenges from the state with certain aspects when it comes to teacher salaries and how stipends can work in future negotiations. The school board will have the budget hearing in September.
Additionally, more work needs to be done on the corporation’s HVAC systems. Zylstra said everything was ready for the first day of school, but there is some work needed on controls and mechanicals.
