Culver School Superintendent Gives Update on Building Projects

Several projects are underway at the Culver Community School Corporation.

Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board members at their most recent meeting that the bus garage now has electricity and a change order will be included for concrete approaches.

Shuman said an irrigation project began but was quickly shut down until after the completion of the football and soccer seasons.

“The process of putting in the piping is highly compromising our fields,” explained Shuman.  “We hoped that they would have it done by August 1 but it’s not there yet.  A lot of it was trying to find shutoffs, other piping and get the structural components in place that pushed the timeline back.”

She hopes that the project can be complete before the ground freezes.

Additionally, painting projects in the school buildings are done and the board will be taking a look at all of the work done.

Shuman commented that SitelogIQ is also on site to look into other projects.

“They’re back on campuses reviewing the traffic flow to determine if that’s a project we need to do with changing bus and car lanes at the school.  They’re also looking at what we’re going to do with the old high school office, what’s the best location or a better thing for the Culver Youth Club, and STEM classrooms at the Elementary School.”

Company officials will put together a timeline and prioritization of potential projects and create a plan for those projects to be presented to the school board in an upcoming meeting.
