Knox School Superintendent Gives Update on Projects

The construction project at the Knox Community School Corporation is going very well, according to Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart.

“We are currently building the drive that will go around the back of the Administration Building and it will be used for our elementary parents for car pick up and drop off,” said Dr. Reichhart.

Work is also ongoing at the administration building and preschool wing.

Dr. Richhart continued, “You will notice a red band across the top of the building which kind of dresses it up from the brick.  We’ll be trying to finish that up November 1.  We are on target.  It’s being completely renovated with new air, heat, paint, new ceilings, new flooring, and two classrooms for preschool will also be housed in the Admin Building.”

A sidewalk will open Monday which will connect the middle school through the elementary school to the high school.

Dr. Reichhart said overall the project has gone very well, especially with the complexity of the project, and he has heard positive comments about it.

“It’s been a really neat project and I know that we have had a lot of people just stop in or drive their golf carts through or cars through the parking lots just looking at all of the changes and being amazed by what we’ve been able to do with not having any type of tax increase for our community.”

Dr. Reichhart noted that there have not been any material delays with this project, however when the vocational wing construction gets started materials may be hard to find.  The Knox School Board is expected to approve the funding for the Career and Technical Education Wing during their meeting Monday night at 6:30 pm. CT in the Redskin Room at the Knox Middle School.  That action will come after a public hearing on the proposed 2022 budget and other discussions.
