A Medaryville man was injured in an accident that involved a train on State Road 8 in Starke County at 6:46 a.m. CT Wednesday, September 8.

Emergency responders were called to the scene just west of 300 E. where they reportedly found a heavily-damaged semi-tractor on the west side of the train tracks.  According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, the driver, 70-year-old Roy McDaniel, crashed through the downed fully-operational crossing arm indicating an oncoming train and collided with the side of the moving Norfolk Southern train engine.  The train was traveling northbound to Chicago at the time of the crash.

No one on the train was injured in the accident.
