No Comments Offered during Knox City’s Council’s Hearing on 2022 Budget

No comments were offered during the Knox City Council’s budget hearing last month. “I’ll open the public hearing for the 2022 budget, and, basically, there is nobody here from the public, so I will go ahead and close that public [hearing],” said Mayor Dennis Estok.

The proposed budget totals just over $3.1 million, with a General Fund of almost $1.6 million, a Motor Vehicle Highway Fund of almost $402,000, and an Economic Development Income Tax Fund of almost $616,000. It will be up for adoption on Tuesday, September 14.

Council members also approved transfers to fix shortfalls in a few line items in this year’s budget. In the Police Fund, $10,000 was transferred from the city’s share of the police pension to the Supplies and Equipment Repair line items. $250 went from Utilities to Sales Tax in the Park and Recreation Fund; and $200 was transferred from Computer Maintenance to Gas, Oil, and Tires in the Plan Commission’s budget.
