The Pulaski County Council members opened a public hearing Monday night to take public comments on the proposed 2022 budget.
Auditor Laura Wheeler presented the figures including a General Fund of about $8.2 million, a Highway Department budget of nearly $3.7 million, Jail Lease Rental Fund at $360,000, Cumulative Capital Development Fund of $671,100, Economic Development Income Tax CEDIT Fund of $897,000, JDAI Grant Fund of $52,731, Community Crossings Matching grant of $1,000,000, Aviation Grant at $350,000, LIT PSAP at about $593,000, and LOIT – B Public Safety County Share at a little over $1.1 million. The total budget is $19,268,772.
The council met in special session after their regular meeting to discuss potential budget cuts, and wages and benefits for department heads that have made requests, plus levies. The council members will resume discussions on the budget and tax levies Sunday, September 19 at 11 a.m. ET at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Training room in Winamac.
