The Starke County Park Board members agreed to extend the employment of the gate attendant at the Bass Lake Beach and Campground.
Park Board President Richard Ballard said there was an attendant on duty last weekend where $350 was collected at the gate. He said the weather should be nice for visitors again this weekend.
Board member Chris Lawrence commented that the trend is there for someone to collect money and it needs to continue through the end of the season, no matter what revenue is collected.
The park board members approved a motion to allow the attendant to be at the Bass Lake Beach gate this weekend. Park Superintendent Marc Vendl said he would be in contact with the attendant to ensure that position is covered.
In July, the Starke County Council approved an amendment to the salary ordinance to pay the gate attendants $10 an hour.
