Winamac Council Allows Internet Service Provider to Put Equipment on Water Tower

More reliable internet service could soon be coming to Winamac. The town council last week agreed to allow Fourway to install communications equipment on the town’s water tower.

“They would like permission to utilize the water tower to be able to sell [internet] across to whomever may wish to have it,” Town Manager Brad Zellers explained.

In exchange, Fourway will provide a direct link for the security cameras at the town woods, splash pad, and possibly some other locations. Zellers said that no companies are currently using the water tower, but there may still be some equipment left by Lightstream.

Zellers also wants to add a provision to the contract that it would be Fourway’s responsibility to move their equipment out of the way during painting or other water tower maintenance. Council members agreed to move forward with the arrangement, pending the final approval of Zellers and Town Attorney Justin Schramm.
