The Culver Town Council members opened a public hearing Tuesday night to take comments on the proposed rezoning request from C-2 to R-1 at 303 North Main Street.
The Culver Plan Commission presented a favorable recommendation concerning the rezoning request. In a letter to the town council, Plan Commission Secretary Don Fox explained that the property formerly housed a dentist’s office. The owners are remodeling the interior of the building, but not the exterior or the footprint, in order to make the building a private residence.
Town Council President Bill Githens read aloud from Fox’s letter, stating that the three properties on the west side are zoned C-2.
“The members of the commission expressed the view that while not in favor of spot zoning they believe changing the zoning of 303 North Main Street to R-1 is the best use of the property,” stated Githens.
There were no other public comments concerning the matter.
Following the public hearing, the council members approved an amendment to the zoning ordinance on all three readings for the rezoning request at 303 North Main Street.
