The Knox City Council members accepted a proposal for a grant administrator when they met Tuesday night.
One proposal was returned from K-IRPC to administer the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) Blight Clearance Program grant in the amount of $138,000. The grant was announced in September.
The council unanimously approved the proposal from K-IRPC.
The grant will be used to demolish the former Knox Moose Lodge on Main Street. According to the grant announcement from OCRA, the demolition includes the removal of about 6,900 square feet of floor tile and tile adhesive containing asbestos.
The city will contribute $15,000 toward the cost.
What the city will do with the property in the future will be discussed in upcoming meetings.
