The Starke County Election Board members will meet today to discuss the reprecincting and redistricting process.
The redistricting and reprecincting process is typically done following the 10-year census. With the completion of the census in 2020, work was done to draw new congressional maps at the state level, and now the Starke County Election Board needs to consider potential local redistricting and reprecincting changes to be within certain state guidelines concerning the population perimeters of representation.
The Starke County Commissioners approved an order last week giving the redistricting and reprecincting authority to the Starke County Election Board.
During that meeting, Clerk Bernadette Manuel said the Senate and House of Representatives maps have changed for Starke County, but will look at the need for changes locally when the Election Board meets today.
The Starke County Election Board will meet at 9:30 a.m. CT today in the second floor conference room in the Starke County Courthouse in Knox.
