West Central Buying New Chromebooks, Working to Get WiFi Hotspots, Thanks to Grants

West Central students will soon be getting new Chromebooks. Superintendent Dan Zylstra says the school board Thursday approved the purchase of 250 Chromebooks for $95,000.

“Those were purchased through more federal pandemic relief aid that we were able to get through the E-rate program,” Zylstra explains, “so we’re excited about getting those new Chromebooks for some of our kids.”

Efforts are also underway to make sure students can get online. “We’re working on plans to distribute some free WiFi hotspots to some families as part of a grant through the Wabash Heartland initiative and hoping to get more internet access for our families,” Zylstra says.

He reports that the recent practice eLearning day went very well.
