The West Central School Board members will hold a public hearing Monday night to take comments on the proposed 2021-2023 Master Teacher Contract.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra said the school was able to provide raises for teachers starting at $2,500 per teacher and more depending on the specific teacher. A move to a salary grid resulted in differentiated raises. Those with “lower salary increases received a one-time stipend to offset the difference”.
Zylstra added that five days of COVID-19 leave was included in the contract retroactive to the 2021-2022 school year, along with a COVID-19 stipend of $1,000 (less taxes) and retirement contributions for staff who were at the corporation in the 2020-2021 school year and remain at the corporation.
Zylstra commented, “Our teachers have worked hard to serve our community. The board is thankful for their efforts and service.”
The public hearing is set for Monday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m. ET in the board room on the campus of the West Central School Corporation.
