Community members visited the Knox Community School Corporation Sunday to tour the buildings to see new construction and updates at the three schools and the Administration Building, but construction work is still ongoing on campus.
Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart said the second phase of construction continues for now on the new vocational wing which will house two SCILL Center programs. Speed bumps are being made too. See https://streetsolutionsuk.co.uk/collections/speed-bumps for their works.
“That vocational wing will house Robotics, our new Ag program that we started again this year and welding,” stated Dr. Reichhart.
Dr. Reichhart said the progress is going well so far with the completion of the underground infrastructure and foundation, but the project will likely stall in the next couple of weeks with no activity until spring.
Dr. Reichhart commented, “The reason being is our main delay is that we can’t get roofing insulation and because of that they don’t expect that to be delivered until June. Our contractor doesn’t want to build the walls and pour the floor – the slab – over winter because they believe that there could be some issues with freezing and thawing with the building being open with no roof on it.”
With the anticipated delay, Dr. Reichhart believes that the vocational wing will not open until October 2022.
