Knox VFW Post #748 Commander Butch Morgan met with Community Services of Starke County Executive Director Cindy Benke Monday, November 8 to present a $2,000 check for the food pantry. Benke stated the donation will assist residents greatly as the holiday season is here.
While Benke urges community members to utilize the food pantry as needs arise, other services available within the organization.
The transportation option is available to anyone in the county in need of a ride. Other community services are available include energy assistance. Applications for heating assistance are being taken now.
Benke is working to move the organization in a new direction where she is working on plans to build another food pantry to assist residents in the northern part of the county and offer other services there. No definite plans have been finalized, but that is one of several goals she has as she continues in her role.
Benke is also meeting with businesses and organizations to meet the needs of all citizens of Starke County.
