The softball field at the Knox Community School Corporation will receive a new scoreboard, thanks to a donation from a Knox High School Alumnus.
Knox Community School Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart said Richard Mast donated $25,000 to the school toward the purchase of the scoreboard.
Dr. Reichhart said the school has been fortunate with generous donations to upgrade the track at a cost of around $300,000 and now this donation for a needed scoreboard for the softball field.
“For Starke County – for any school to receive these kinds of donations is pretty unique and we’re appreciative of that,” commented Dr. Reichhart.
The board accepted the donation with a unanimous vote.
“[School Board Member] Wendy McIntire made a special point to say that she’s very pleased that Mr. Mast has come back to give back to our community and appreciate where they came from. The board was very appreciative of this particular gift.”
The new scoreboard will be installed in the near future.
