The La Porte Police Department will increase patrols during November to keep roads safe for holiday travelers.
From now until November 30, La Porte City Police Department officers will be showing zero tolerance for impaired drivers and aggressive driving behaviors.
Police say impaired driving includes more than just alcohol. Illegal drugs and some over-the-counter medications can cause impairment, judgment and reaction times on the road.
These increased patrols are funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through an Indiana Criminal Justice Institute grant.
