North Judson Town Council Recognizes North Judson-Wayne Township Public Library’s 100th Anniversary

The North Judson Town Council recently recognized the North Judson-Wayne Township Public Library on its 100th Anniversary.  Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said a signed certificate will be presented to library staff.

North Judson-Wayne Township Public Library Director Kelsie Purcell told WKVI News that the library opened as a building in October 1921, but it did not open as a functioning library until February 1922.

Purcell said many activities are planned in February 2022 to celebrate the library’s centennial, and plenty of updates are occurring now inside the library to show the public a fresh look.  New windows were recently installed and a painting project is underway, along with some work downstairs.

More information about a ribbon tying ceremony and dedication will be released as it becomes available.  Famous poet, and former North Judson resident, Gilbert Arzola, is expected to be on hand for the February festivities.
