Thirty families in Starke County were served a Thanksgiving meal thanks to the effort of Oregon-Davis students.
Dean of Students Heather Quinn told the Oregon-Davis School Board members Monday night over $1,700 was raised for holiday baskets this year. A portion of that money was donated by staff members who wanted to wear jeans to school last week. Nearly $340 was donated by the Oregon-Davis Elementary School staff and $120 was donated by the high school staff.
Quinn said this was much more than what was collected last year.
The students brought in non-perishable food for the food drive which yielded 987 total items for holiday baskets.
