Pulaski County Sheriff Asks County Council to Spend Funds for Jail Door Repair

Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine asked the County Council members for permission Monday night to spend funds to fix jail doors.

Sheriff Richwine explained, “It’s for the repair of five doors.  They were all automatic doors.  The jail is old enough now that it’s best just to turn these into manual doors. They’ve been in there the last two days working on those and that’ll open up five more cells for us that we haven’t had for about six months.  That’ll be a good thing for us.”

The $26,752 cost is listed in an additional appropriation advertisement to come out of the Misdemeanant Fund.  Richwine said the fund collects misdemeanor funds from the state which can be used for jail repairs only.

The council members unanimously approved the request.
