The Starke County Commissioners may take another look at a rezoning request by the Redlin family south of Bass Lake on U.S. 35 for a proposed solar project.
A petition to rezone the property to agricultural was denied by the commissioners during their last meeting in October by a vote of two-to-one, with Mark Gourley opposing the motion.
Todd Redlin asked the commissioners last week to clarify their decision to deny the rezoning request for his project. After hearing many comments from residents including the setback of the project from U.S. 35, buffers, the business transaction between the farmer and the company, and a whole host of other comments made during the meeting, the commissioners may bring up the discussion again when they meet next week. There were comments made about the lack of communication about the project.
County Attorney Marty Lucas explained that he needs to research the specific rules concerning the commissioners reversing their decision on this particular topic, but it may need to start with a whole new hearing. He will discuss his findings with the commissioners.
The commissioners will meet next on Monday, November 15 at 9:30 a.m. CT.
