A three-vehicle accident in North Judson Monday morning reportedly resulted in all three drivers sustaining injuries.
The North Judson Police Department was called to the scene at about 8:40 a.m. CT at 606 Talmer Avenue where a preliminary investigation found that 47-year-old Chanda Paulsen was traveling east on Talmer Avenue when she reportedly stopped to make a left turn. While Paulsen was waiting to make the turn, police say a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Paula Wagle did not see the stopped vehicle and ran into the rear of Paulsen’s Mazda. The impact caused Paulsen’s Mazda to move into oncoming traffic where her vehicle met 63-year-old Romel Schultz’s Dodge Ram in a head-on collision, according to the report.
Paulsen, from North Judson, was injured, along with Schultz and Wagle who are from San Pierre. Police say one driver was airlifted from the scene for chest injuries.
Police say speed may have been a factor of this accident.
The North Judson Police Department was assisted at the scene by the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department, Lutheran Air and Starke County EMS.
