The West Central School Board members approved the Master Teacher Contract during their meeting Thursday night.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra commented that the process was positive for the board and the Teacher’s Association.
“We had the Teacher’s Association’s co-presidents there and they were there to sign it with us,” stated Zylstra. “Our negotiations team members from the board – they thanked the Association for all of the work that was put in and overall it was a very good process to come out with a contract for everybody.”
Zylstra said several changes were included in the contract.
“That’s going to bring our base salary up to $40,000 and $41,000 next year, and then some other increases for other staff as well. We’re moving to a grid which provides a clear compensation picture.”
A committee will be meeting prior to the board’s December meeting to bring forward a recommendation for Non-Certified staff pay adjustments, but the board did approve COVID-19 stipends for the entire staff Thursday night.
Zylstra commented, “That’s going to be an amount for staff for some of the work that they put in extra during the year last year.”
Lastly, the board also approved leave days for the staff that had to quarantine due to COVID.
