Knox City Police Department Looking for Officers

The Knox City Police Department is looking for full-time officers.

Police Chief Harold Smith told the Knox Board of Works members Wednesday morning that an officer resigned from the department and one officer is anticipated to go to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in January.

On top of that, fill-in School Resource Officer Steve VanDerAa has opted to resign his position at the Knox Community School Corporation.  Smith said he is the only one trained at this time to be in that position there, but something will be worked out with the school corporation.

Until then, Smith is accepting applications for police officers.  He said it is very hard to find part-time officers to work, but all shifts will be covered to ensure adequate coverage for the citizens of the City of Knox when it comes to law enforcement needs.

To obtain an application, email Chief Harold Smith at hsmith@cityofknox.net.  An application may be picked up at the Clerk-Treasurer’s office at Knox City Hall Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT.
