Minix Sentenced in Pulaski Circuit Court

Billie J. Minix was recently sentenced in Pulaski Circuit Court after previously being found guilty by a jury on charges of aggravated battery, confinement and intimidation.

Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney Kelly Gaumer stated that 59-year-old Billie J. Minix brutally battered a woman in November 2018 for no obvious reason.  The victim had entered a home she was rehabbing with the permission of the owner and he battered her after she entered the residence.  She suffered extensive injuries in the incident that continue to affect her.

Gaumer stated in a press release that the woman could not positively identify her attacker, but the vicitm’s DNA was found on Minix’s clothing, which Gaumer said was the decisive factor in identifying Minix.

While Minix’s past criminal history was not displayed to the jury in this case, Gaumer said he has been to prison six times on various charges, including a battery conviction.  Minix was recently convicted for breaking property inside the Pulaski County Jail after he became angry upon learning that pudding was not on the menu for lunch, according to the report.

Pulaski Circuit Court Judge Mary Welker sentenced Minix to 28 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections on the charges of aggravated battery, confinement and intimidation.  He intends to appeal the sentence.
