There were 59 new cases of COVID-19 reported locally, including 40 cases in Marshall County, 12 cases in Starke County, and seven cases in Pulaski County, according to Monday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. They are among 3,080 newly diagnosed residents in the state from December 4 and December 5.
There were no COVID-19 deaths in Monday’s report.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms continues to grow. Monday’s census on the Indiana Department of Health’s coronavirus dashboard was at 2,496.
In the updated school coronavirus dashboard, another 4,321 students in the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 from September 9 to December 3. There were 254 additional teacher COVID-19 cases from August 23 to December 3, and 442 additional staff cases in the state from September 4 to December 3.
There were six new student COVID-19 cases at Eastern Pulaski County Elementary School, and five new student cases at West Central Elementary School. Many of the schools in Starke and Pulaski Counties reported less than five new cases at school buildings.
