Four students were recognized during the North Judson-San Pierre School Board meeting Tuesday night for being named Rising Stars of Indiana.
Junior/Senior High School Principal Brian Orkis told those in attendance that the Indiana Association of School Principals developed this program that aims to honor high school juniors for their academic performance. He stated that the recognition also increases their visibility and scholarship opportunities to post-secondary institutions.
The program allows up to four students to be recognized for the honor based on academic criteria. Orkis said the four who were honored Tuesday night are the top four students in their class. They include Kennedy Baxter, Olivia Burkett, Morgan Hensley, and Hannah Korous.
Orkis noted that these students also participate in several extra-curricular activities and are involved in the community in addition to their high school academic courses.
