The North Judson Town Council members opened four quotes for the removal of three trees and a large branch at Highland Cemetery.
Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe stated that there is a wooded area along the west side of the cemetery and several trees were found to be dead or dying.
“If they go down, they’re going to go down right on top of headstones, so we got some quotes for the removal of three of these trees and there was one major branch that was part of a dying tree that was sticking out the most,” said Rowe.
Rowe noted that this was a case of preventative maintenance to prevent potential damage to cemetery plots.
The lowest quote came from Kings Contractors at a cost of $1,700 for the removal of three trees and the removal of the large tree limb.
The North Judson Town Council approved the quote from Kings Contractors. Work on that project has yet to start.
