The resurgence of COVID-19 cases has prompted officials at Northwest Health hospitals to update visitation restrictions in place at all three hospitals and their outpatient centers.
Officials there say the change is “aimed to protect its patients, visitors and staff from unnecessary exposure to the COVID-19 virus”.
Beginning Friday, December 17, for all patients, one visitor is permitted to visit. Exceptions include pediatric patients who may have both parents/guardians at the same time, and maternity patients who may have two visitors at a time. Additionally, visitors under the age of 18 are not permitted to visit hospital patients. Visiting hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT daily.
The new guidelines are in effect at Northwest Health – Starke, Northwest Health – La Porte, Northwest Health – Porter, Northwest Health – Michigan City, Northwest Health – Portage, Northwest Health – Valparaiso, and Northwest Health – Chesterton.
Hospital representatives encourage residents to wear masks in public and continue social distancing, and washing hands frequently.
