Oregon-Davis School Board Updated on Band Program

The Oregon-Davis band program is growing.

Band Director Kendra Ohime recently reported to the Oregon-Davis School Board that the department has seen a 28 percent increase in participation since she took over the position four years ago.

She noted that the band members will be performing at Six Flags at the end of the school year.  They have been busy with fundraisers to raise money for the trip, and Ohime said nearly enough money has been raised to cover the expenses.

Kairah and Berrek Ohime recently performed in the Ball State Honors Band.  They were two of 67 students in the state who performed from 32 schools.  Several students also participated in the All -Regions Honor Band including Stella Awald, Chris Bottorff, Kairah Ohime, Lee Ann Stambaugh and Matthew Wringer.  Two students participated in the All-District event including Spencer Berg and Berrek Ohime.

Director Ohime said there are several students who may be interested in choir and she may tackle that aspect of the music program in the future.

The school board members thanked Ohime for the report and for her efforts in the music department.
