Pulaski County EMS Director Addresses Ambulance Maintenance Issues

Pulaski County EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo asked the Pulaski County Commissioners for help in how to move forward with repairing an ambulance.

DeLorenzo commented at last week’s commissioners meeting that the engine replacement on one of the ambulances has been delayed as GM is still having a parts issue.

“There’s no engine available for this truck at this point,” said DeLorenzo.  “Since we already got the additional for the complete engine replacement, I didn’t know if we’re stuck with that or if can go ahead and look at just getting the head gaskets replaced at this point, or if we want to try to wait it out for a bit.”

There is no timeline on when an engine would be available.

Commissioner Mike McClure asked if any used engines could be found, and if nothing can be found at a reasonable price he could replace the head gaskets on the bad engine with the funds available.

Pulaski County Council member Mike Tiede commented Monday night that there are other maintenance issues on the county ambulances and efforts are being made to find solutions for those issues.  He said he thought American Rescue Plan Act funds could be used for new ambulances, and that could be discussed at a later time.
