The Starke County Council members approved additional appropriations requested by the Starke County Park Board members.
About $91,000 was requested to cover expenses through the rest of 2021. The park board has gathered enough revenue to purchase equipment and pay staff with the funds requested. The park board asked for $16,000 in personnel, $65,000 in supplies, and $10,000 in other supplies.
Additionally, Park Superintendent Marc Vendl explained that $3,000 will be used to purchase a snow roller in order to create cross country skiing trails at the Starke County Forest this winter.
The Starke County Council members approved the additional appropriation requests with a unanimous vote.
The 2022 Park Board budget will be presented to the Starke County Council in January.
