The West Central School Board learned last week that the Teacher Appreciation Grant funds have been received and will be distributed to those teachers who were deemed “highly effective” and “effective” following evaluations.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra explained to the board members the guidelines of the grant.
“Per state guidelines, teachers that are highly effective are to get 25 percent more than teachers that are effective,” stated Zylstra. The way our grant was structured based on discussions with the Teachers Association it only includes teachers who are still here this year and who taught last year as well.”
After FICA and PERF corporation expenses are taken out of the funds, 16 highly effective teachers will receive $580 and 24 effective teachers will receive $464.
