There will be a new officer working for the Knox City Police Department.
During Wednesday morning’s Knox Board of Works meeting, Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith recommended the hire of Lonnie Boley. He has been a reserve officer for the department for the past two years. He is up-to-date on training, but will need to attend the Indiana Police Academy. He might not get placement into the Academy until August.
The board members approved the hire with a unanimous vote. He will be working with the police department as soon as all of the paperwork is complete and a schedule is made up with him on the roster.
The police department is still down a few officers. Email hsmith@cityofknox.net for more information.
