Plans and specifications are now available in the Knox Clerk-Treasurer’s Office as contractors prepare bids for the demolition of the Knox Moose Lodge.
A pre-bid meeting for contractors for the project is planned for Wednesday, January 12 at 9:30 a.m. CT at Knox City Hall. Bids are anticipated to be opened Wednesday, January 26 during the Knox Board of Works meeting at 9:30 a.m. CT at Knox City Hall.
The city was awarded almost $138,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant money through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs Blight Clearance Program.
OCRA says the Moose Lodge demolition will also include the removal of about 6,900 square feet of asbestos-containing floor tile and 5,100 square feet of asbestos-containing tile adhesive. The city’s share of the cost is over $15,000.
What the city will do with the property in the future will be discussed in upcoming meetings.
