Nearly 70 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Locally

Another 70 people in the tri-county area have tested positive with COVID-19, including 43 people in Marshall County, 15 people in Pulaski County and 10 people in Starke County.  They are among 11,932 new cases reported in the state in Tuesday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health.

An additional 110 people have died of COVID-19, including one person in Starke County.

The number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals around the state totals 3,467 which is the highest number of COVID-19 patients since the Indiana Department of Health began reporting this statistic on its dashboard in April 2020. 

The Omicron variant is seen in more samples analyzed, according to the Indiana Department of Health’s coronavirus website.  About 10 percent of ICU beds are available in hospitals in the state.
