The North Judson-San Pierre School Board members took time to discuss the pay schedule for Non-Certified staff and bus drivers when they met in December.
Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin clarified that the board typically takes care of salary adjustments in July, but the board was asked to adjust it mid-year to ensure the corporation remains competitive with pay.
She stated that cafeteria employees, custodians, instructional aides, and bus drivers are affected in this action. No employee would make less than $10/hour to start and bus drivers would be paid $80 a day to start.
The salary schedule will focus on those in the lower tiers to become more competitive.
Dr. Zupin noted that the schedule would be reviewed again in June to see if another increase is warranted.
Corporation Business Manager Dalton Tunis explained that the pay is comparable to other schools in the area, especially with bus driver pay.
The board members approved the changes with a unanimous vote.
Additionally, the board members adjusted the bus driver manual to include two benefit days. The names of the drivers and directors were also amended in order to bring all information up-to-date.
