The Pulaski County Council members learned this week that the changes made to LIT allocations to the Public Safety Fund won’t be allocated as approved in October.
Council President Ken Boswell explained that the Department of Local Government Finance noted documents to move some of the LIT allocated money toward funding the EMS Department were not filed with the state within the time frame required. As a result, the 2022 LIT revenues will be distributed based on rates adopted in 2020, not the rate approved in 2021 as the council approved so planned EMS funding may be short.
Auditor Laura Wheeler commented that everything should be covered and there should be no issues.
Councilwoman Kathi Thompson expressed her frustration that the paperwork was not filed properly and asked the auditor to provide budget updates at every council meeting so the members are aware of spending.
