The Starke County Commissioners have extended the closure of the county buildings to the public until Monday, February 7.
The Starke County Commissioners have closed the county buildings to the public due to the high community spread of COVID-19. They would like to keep the employees and members of the public as safe as possible.
The public may be allowed to attend in-person meetings or by prior appointment only. All appointments will be considered by the elected official or department head. When the individual arrives at the building, security officers will confirm the appointment with the appropriate office.
The closure applies to the Starke County Courthouse and Annex Buildings. The Starke County Sheriff’s Department remains open for visitor needs, but Starke Circuit Court is closed to the public with hearings available online.
The commissioners also approved a temporary policy Tuesday morning that would allow an employee to work remotely if there is a county-wide closure created by a health pandemic or office/department quarantine. An employee may also request to work remotely if testing positive with COVID-19 or displaying symptoms related to a COVID-19 infection. A form must be completed and approved by the supervisor. The request may be up to 10 consecutive days, but the employee may return to work at any time.
