Knox Board of Works Opens Bids for Knox Moose Lodge Demolition

The Knox Board of Works members opened bids for the demolition of the Knox Moose Lodge during their recent meeting.

Mark Milo bid $73,995, Hill Excavating submitted a bid of $134,500, and Richard Brothers bid $152,161.

The board members agreed to take the bids under advisement.  Officials from Territorial Engineering will look at the bid documents to ensure that all specifications are met. If the documents fit the specifications, the board will award the project to the lowest bidder.

The city was awarded almost $138,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant money through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs Blight Clearance Program.

OCRA says the Moose Lodge demolition will also include the removal of about 6,900 square feet of asbestos-containing floor tile and 5,100 square feet of asbestos-containing tile adhesive. The city’s share of the cost is over $15,000.

What the city will do with the property in the future will be discussed in upcoming meetings.
