Knox School Board to Work with Park Superintendent to Present Programs to Residents

The Knox Community School Board members have agreed to work with Knox Director of Parks and Recreation Karl Swihart in order to offer several programs to residents.

Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart explained that the collaboration was discussed during the school board’s meeting last week.

“The board supports this 100 percent,” stated Dr. Reichhart.  “We are going to allow our facilities to be used for youth basketball that’s going to be starting up that Karl is going to be running.  There will also be, according to Karl, an adult basketball league that will be using the Knox facilities.  I believe that Pickleball currently is held at the [Nancy J. Dembowski] Community Center and they’re looking for more space so they may be moving that into our new multi-purpose room.”

Dr. Reichhart commented that the board wants to be able to share the facilities more with the community.

Dr. Reichhart continued, “Our facilities should be used by the community and as long they are kept in the same condition as when the activity starts as when it ends, the board has no issue with opening the facilities up to the community.”

School Board member Wendy McIntire made the statement that she appreciates that the park board and the school are working together as that has not always happened in the past.
