Mitch Hansel from USI Consultants and Utility Superintendent Joe Leszek approached the North Judson Town Council recently about using American Rescue Plan Act funds for a match for a proposed Community Crossings Matching Grant fund project in 2023.
Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said the project would alleviate high water and flooding areas in a certain section of town while addressing the need to pave those roads there.
“We’ve got a few areas in town over in the area of Burger King and North Judson Express where we have a lot of retaining water when it rains,” said Rowe. “We’ve got a lot of flooding in areas along streets and along sidewalks in those areas that’s been a problem for quite some time. The idea is to pave those roads that are in need of paving as it is.”
Laurel, Cherry and Sheridan Streets were proposed as part of this project.
The council members were provided a preliminary cost analysis of the work including storm water infrastructure and paving, but more solid figures will be included in an upcoming meeting so the council can make a potential decision.
The North Judson Town Council members are meeting tonight where they will consider a 2022 cemetery mowing bid advertisement and agreement. They will also have updates from department heads as necessary. The council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. CT tonight at the North Judson Town Hall at 310 Lane Street.
