The Oregon-Davis School Board members reviewed fiscal goals and end-of-year financial information when they recently met.
Superintendent Bill Bennett said when taxpayer dollars are spent school officials are as fiscally responsible as possible and investments are sound.
“I feel like this past year we did a really good job with where we are at financially,” said Bennett. “Just to give you guys an idea – we are going to end the year for 2021 with $431,440 in our Education Fund which is $100,000 more than what we will carried over last year in that account.”
He said there was about $422,000 left over from Referendum funds and about $1 million left over in the Operations Fund which is $90,000 more than the previous year. There is $571,000 in the Rainy Day Fund, but Bennett said that figure will increase with a proposed $300,000 transfer of funds anticipated for that fund at the next meeting.
The Food Service fund was at $159,682 at the end of 2021 which is $118,000 more than the previous year due to the USDA supplying free meals to students as part of pandemic relief. Bennett said Food Services Director Jeff Messer wants to make a few improvements in the kitchen that will be directed to efficiency.
Bennett said he is happy with the way 2021 ended financially.
Bennett continued, “Some of that is – we’ve had CARES dollars and ESSER dollars that we could spend that maybe we would have spent out of these accounts, but it’s nice with the raises and whatnot that we gave this Fall to have a little wiggle room to make sure we’re good for next year.”
The board members approved the report as presented.
