Firefighters were called to a house fire in Grovertown early Thursday morning.
Koontz Lake Fire Department Chief Andy Lawrence told WKVI News that they were called to the scene just after midnight CT Thursday and went two alarms due to lack of manpower from all responding departments. Lawrence said firefighters could see fire through the roof of the residence. They were at the scene for about three hours. A second fire was reported at the residence shortly after 7 a.m. CT which also went two alarms due to less manpower than the earlier call.
Lawrence indicated that the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating both calls.
No one was at the residence at the time of the fire.
The Koontz Lake Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, Walkerton Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department, and Knox-Center Township Fire Department. The Polk Township Fire Department, North Liberty Fire Department and Lakeville Fire Department helped cover the stations and ran calls during the two fire incidents.
