The Hamlet Town Council members will meet in special session Wednesday to discuss a zoning request.
Nick Misch approached the council last week about building a 3,000 square foot home and two barns on a parcel south of Indiana Avenue that is about 32 acres. He and his girlfriend want to move their small farm from Wanatah to Hamlet and would build on the rear portion of the property.
He explained that they would have livestock, horses, and chickens, but assist with 4-H participants with providing lessons and leasing out the livestock for that purpose.
Misch had specific questions about water and sewer service and what the ordinances govern in that regard.
Councilman Brian Earnest said they would need to review the ordinances to determine what can be permitted with water and sewer service, and livestock. He did say that if the property is inside town limits then water and sewer should be able to hook up to town services, but the council will need to discuss it further before making a decision.
The Wellhead Protection Area will also be reviewed in order for the council to make an informed decision.
The matter will be discussed during Wednesday’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. CT at Hamlet Town Hall.
